For our next three-month theme we will look at aspects of technology such as television, mobile phones and the internet and examining if they are enhancing or damaging our spiritual discipleship. This week (7th May) we'll start it off by coming up with the specific focusses and deciding on the tasks.

Does anyone fancy sharing ideas before the meeting on Thursday?
Do you have any experiences of technology (positive or negative) to share?
How about getting the brainstorming of questions going here? (Sorry if I'm jumping the gun, And...)
Hi again, gang. The SofaChurch Pope has okay-ed the idea of sharing thoughts at this stage, so here are my initial questions. (I'm sure there are plenty of positives as well as negatives for each point, but I'll admit that based on my experiences, I am coming at the topic from quite a negative standpoint.)
What might the implications be (both to us as people generally, and more specifically to us as Christians) of the following facets of modern life that we have readily accepted as part of modern life?
* Being permanently contactable (telephones, e-mail, mobile phones)
* Having the world in our front room (internet)
* Developing virtual relationships (social networking websites)
* Being able to shop 24-7 (internet shopping, e-bay etc)
* Being informed of world events, news, crimes etc in great detail (news websites, radio, TV)
* Having the comfort of 'company' when lonely at the flick of a switch (TV, radio, i-player)
* Being able to communicate with people in an instant (mobiles, e-mail, texts, telephones, MSN)
* Sharing our private lives with whoever is interested (blogging)
* Having tempting websites just a click away (gambling, shopping, pornography, googling old boyfriends - never done it, btw - etc)
I came across this post in a blog I read regularly, which I thought fitted well with our theme!
