Children of Men

December's film on the second Thursday (11th) is 'Children of Men'. A tale set in troubled times with the coming of a baby who could bring hope and light. Some want that. Some do not.

Sound familiar?

Andy and I watched this film the other night.

I found it quite gritty, even though it's a 15 and there's no particularly gruesome bits, it's the sort of film that leaves you feeling thoughtful. But then I'm a sensitive soul ('Murder She Wrote' is too scary for me).

Without wanting to give too much away, it really made me think of the risky situation that Jesus was born into in a new way.

I'll be along with a gentleman tonight. Look forward to it. Tim.

This film has left me stunned and thoughtful.

This morning going about my usual duties, thinking about no more children. 18 years down the line - empty schools, empty playgrounds, no running, playing, skipping. Makes you realise that children not only bring life in the continuation of our species, but in who they are as children in the few years they are children. Being as a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and stuff.

The other thing which struck me fresh this morning concerned those who died in the film. A high body count indeed - but within the thinking of the film - except for all those who knew of The Baby - every person that died was part of the human race declining. No 'replacements' growing up.

Hmmmmn.
