Family film night

As its the summer holidays, we thought we'd make this month's film open to children too. We'll watch the film through and then see how it relates to our faith. All very welcome.

Not sure if I'll be able to stomach this one... American Teen movies so don't identify with me. We'll see!

Is it comparable to Grease?

Errm... you could say that it's so cheesy that it comes through the other side and is actually okay. It does have a very positive message, quite different to the average teen movie's priorities and values. It probably is the Grease of the 2000s culturally. Give it a go.

Clip here
It's as cheesy as they come, Tim, but it's so wholesome and slickly done that it's just plain delightful in my opinion.

I haven't seen it yet but have wanted to for ages, so I'll be there! 10 year old daughter wants to come too, so that will be at least two of us - three if Tim finds he might be able to stomach it after all! ;-)

Aw - wish the Kitt-ster was big enough to stay up and see it. Though I'm planning to avoid her watching telly for at least a little while longer; all the ADHD scare stories frighten me.

I'll be really interested to hear what F makes of it, Helen. I reckon she'll definitely have an opinion, one way or the other. It's been such a mainstream hit, I'd be interested to hear a little 'thinking' person's view of it...Be sure to get her to blog what she thinks :o)

Is it okay to start the film at the usual time, Helen? I wondered if it should start earlier (for bedtimes etc) but Andy thought as it was a short film, we'd be okay.

Usual time sounds fine from our point of view. :-) I'm really looking forward to it!

F has seen it before, but I'm sure after a second viewing she will have even more thoughts on it!

as a necessary opposite and (perhaps) equal to last night's film, I'll be along tonight.

Though I won't be procuring any of THIS related merchandise for anyone in mh household!
