Being Real

Tonight we considered the direction of SofaChurch with authenticity and openness being at the crux of our knowing Christ and making Christ known. We arrived at deciding a program which could deal with a variety of needs and purposes on many levels, which can be planned in advance, but remain flexible.

The Mission Statement from the back of the SofaChurch postcards is excellent, summed up in the paragraph: "Sofa Church is a more relaxed way of being church. Its a place where all family members can share how they like to worship God. Its a safe place where its okay to just be you. Relax - you're with family"

The music was God is a DJ by Faithless:

"This is my church
This is where I heal my hurts
It's a natural grace
Of watching young life shape
It's in minor keys
Solutions and remedies
Enemies becoming friends
When bitterness ends
...
Respect, love, compassion
This is my church
This is where I heal my hurts
For tonight
God is a DJ"

American Honky Tonk Bar Association from
Garth Brooks
also giving insight into where people find acceptance and community - which is SofaChurch's aim by different means.

Hiya Everyone

It was our first time at SofaChurch last night, and it was great to feel so warmly welcomed and accepted... everything that we know is what you all want it to stand for. Thank you.

Thanks too Tim for orchestrating such a worthwhile and stimulating discussion.

Think we'll be back for more... hee hee!!

Yes, thanks Tim and well done. I'll put the schedule we decided together and post it later.

I came across this recently and thought it was relevant. Perhaps we'll discuss it one evening....

Why God doesn't go to church

Thanks Jo, Andy *2

I don't know about orchestrating... fumbling with a stick with my sheets of music blowing everywhere it felt more like - but yes direction was grasped and course set, with checks to be had along the way. For that I am glad, and for the company.

ASBO Jesus - that's just superb Andy. Are you going to add a list of links of gems like that?
