We had a good discussion about how we picture God. I personally was very surprised at how many people said they don't imagine God as a real person - I think I assumed everyone did! Rather, it seems that lots of people see God in other people or in the majesty of nature.
We then made little flicker book 'animations' of our ways of picturing God. I particularly liked the two who had depicted their idea of God as a comforting cup of tea - wish I'd thought of that one!

It's interesting how God is portrayed in films - Morgan Freeman in 'Bruce/Evan Almighty' and George Burns in 'Oh God' for example. The former is quite a cool character, a smooth operator; the latter is a real eccentric and a bit grouchy. Neither is what I think of as being like God, but maybe that's how it should be since we are each made in the likeness of God there must be billions of 'likenesses' so each of us is going to view God differently
Hmm, more films I've not seen! Oh, I think I did see Bruce Almighty come to think of it, but a while back.
Saw Bob today, Obi-Win, and he said the student service was great - really glad to hear it all went well. (Didn't know it would be Dominoes pizza... hmm, might have dragged the runway kids along afterall!)
Really enjoyed the meeting last week.Only problem was I broke down on my way home the clutch cable snapped on me.I was only two mins from home had to get a friend to tow me back.Hopefully Nana will be back on the road again by Thursday.
I think I see God or picture him in many ways. It's hard to just think of one image.Sometimes I visualise him as Jesus and actually he does kind of look like the guy i've seen since I was little in pictures,I don't know if that's wrong or not but that's the friend side of God I see.
I definately see God in my surroundings as some of the others said last week, sometimes I can feel God more profoundly out in his creation.Nothing beats a mountain top or a view out to sea or indeed the middle of a forest where all you can hear are his birds singing and see the squirrels scuttling around.
Sometimes it's not a case of seeing or imagining God it's more how I feel him,his aspects of character if that makes sense.
That can be so many things, father, friend, creator, judge, saviour and more besides.
One thing I guess on reflection though is that God would not be God if we knew everything about him there needs to be a sense of mystery too.
